A Day at Tanagh
All first years enjoyed their trip to Tanagh this year. We started off the day by coming to school as normal. We went to our registration room as normal, but after that we went to the bus and went to Tanagh. Tanagh is an outdoor adventure facility just on the border of Cavan and Monaghan.
Each tutor group went with their tutors Mr Mayne, Mr Lynch, Ms Noon and Ms Monaghan. Some of the groups also went with Ms Mc Morrow.
When we got there we went into a big room and from there got split up into two groups: everyone who wanted to do water-based activities was in one group, while those who wanted land activities were in another.
Steven chose the land group. Nicole took to the water.
Steven: From there we went to an old Church and on the back wall there was a climbing wall. First a man that was working there showed us how to put on a harness. Then he climbed across the wall. We all had a go and the person that got the furthest got a prize. After we all done that he showed us how to climb up the wall.
It was quite scary but I got to the top and then abseiled back down. It made me feel proud that I got to the top. Then we were taught some archery skills, which was brilliant. I got the highest score!
After that we took our harnesses and went to the Ariel slide. We were hooked on to a wire ten metres up in the air and slid down across a field. It was great fun! Some people screamed the whole way down!
Nicole: On the water we did kayaking and the water slide and we got to jump off the jetty. We had a really good time and we would like to thank our tutors, our year head and Ms Mc Morrow
