2nd Year RI Trip
On Tuesday 9th March all 2nd year students accompanied by their religion teachers Ms Hetherton, Ms Duignan, Ms Kiernan and Mr McDermott made a trip to Dublin to visit the Islamic mosque in Clonskeagh. The purpose of the trip was research for the students Junior Certificate Religion Project.
On entering the mosque everybody removed their shoes before being allowed into the prayer room in keeping with Islamic practise. Then an Islamic lady spoke about the life as a Muslim and the importance of praying five times a day and the rituals associated with prayer in the Mosque. Many other aspects of Islamic life were spoken about also including the monthly period of fasting and the pilgrimage to Mecca.
There then followed lunch and shopping in Blanchardstown S.C. An enjoyable and educational day was had by all.
