Killinkere Cross Country Competition
First of all, a huge thanks and well done to all students who took part in the cross country event in Killenkere on Wednesday last. The event took place in terrible conditions with continuous wind and rain. Despite the conditions it seemed to have little effect on the St. Aidan’s pupil’s performances, as a huge amount of silverware was won on the day.
Team event winners
The under 15 girls came 3rd in the team event. The St. Aidan’s girls were lead home by Aoife Cosgrove in 11th position, followed by Hannah O Reilly in 12th and Niamh Sheridan in 14th place.
The under 17 boys came second in their team event. Simon Boyle came in a very impressive 3rd position. He was then followed by Damien O Brein in 6th, Oisin Carolan in 8th and, Patrick Smith in 11th position.
Finally, the under 19 girls came 2nd in their team event. Catriona Mullen led the race from start to finish. She was pushed all the way by Aisling Moore in 3rd position. These girls were followed by Claire Brady, Deidre Mahon, and Eimear Donahoe in 17th,18th and 20th position’s respectively.
Solo winners
Some of the solo achievements on the day were won by the aforementioned Caitriona Mullen in the 6th year girls who came 1st, Kate McIntyre coming 3rd in the first year girls and Simon Boyle who came 3rd in the U-17 boys event.
