Girls U14 Cavan Post Primary Schools Winners 2016
Our Girls travelled down the road to contest what would be a great final between two fantastic teams. The game was played in Canningstown (Knockbride) on Thursday 26th May 2016 at 2pm. St Aidan’s started with blistering pace grabbing some fine points and goals. At half time the score read 3.07 to 2.02 with St Aidan’s in complete control. Bailieborough CS came out in the second half with a point to prove and we struggled to win our own kickouts. They clawed it back point by point with just 30 seconds left on the clock we found ourselves 2 points down with Ms English nearing heart failure. Aoibhe Morris was fouled for a penalty and Ciara Fitzpatrick stood up with courage and confidence and blasted the ball into the back of the net. Sarah Clarke won the next Kick out and her shot for a point dipped in over the goalie’s head for a goal leaving the score line 5.08 to 4.07. The large crowd of parents that came to support the girls celebrated with joy when the final whistle blew. It was a nail-biting match and thankfully St Aidan’s never stopped believing they could win. Brian Crowe Presented the Cup to St Aidan’s Captain Hannah McPhillips on behalf of the Cavan Ladies County Board. Well Done to all the girls who put in a fantastic effort all year and a huge thanks to all the parents that came to the final to cheer them on, it was like having a 16th player on the day. We at St Aidan’s are very proud and can’t wait to see what’s next for this great bunch of girls.
