Guidance Counsellor's Office

St. Aidan’s supplies a comprehensive Career Guidance and Counselling service to all its students. It helps students to grow in self-knowledge and self-esteem by providing professional expertise and information to enable them make constructive life choices. These choices are focused on the areas of personal, educational and career issues.

The work of the Guidance Counselling Service includes:

  • Personal - Development of social and personal skills, self-awareness, problem solving, decision-making and planning.
  • Educational - Assessment using psychometric tests, Study Skills, Exam Skills, Subject Choice, Course choice.
  • Career - Career growth skills, Employment awareness, Training choices, Educational Choices and Job Getting Skills.
  • Services - Guidance Counselling, Careers Library, Career Events, Guidance via Internet, and computer assisted guidance
  •  Referrals - by the guidance counsellor to appropriate agencies where it is deemed necessary to satisfy the needs of the individual student. Students may also be referred to the guidance counsellor by parents, teachers or school management.
  • Personal Counselling – helping students to explore their thoughts and feelings and the choices open to them; giving care and support to students learning to cope with the many aspects of growing up.
  • Parents / Guardians are welcome to make an appointment to see the Guidance Counsellor.
