The role of the Year Head

The Year Head on behalf of the school community takes on the role of overseeing the welfare of a year group so that learning, at every level of the person, is supported.

The Year Head will:

  • Monitor lates and absenteeism

  • Oversee the academic progress of students

  • Ensure the Year group follow the code of behaviour

  • Acknowledge students

  • Encourage students to participate in Extra curricular activities

  • Facilitate Parental contact

  • Support students at risk, address the needs of vulnerable students

  • Meet weekly with Principal and Deputy Principal of the school to discuss and review issues concerning the year group

  • Meet with tutors on a regular basis

  • Take registration on an on-going basis with each tutor group

  • Conduct Assemblies on a fortnightly basis with whole Year group

  • Support families in difficulty and report to staff in relation to the year group
